2010 Grant Recipients

Early Education

La Casa Hogar (Yakima) received $3500 for their early learning program offered to children of adult program participants. 

Ready by Five (Yakima) was awarded $5000 for the purchase of books for its Motheread program engaging parents of birth to five-year-old children. 

Circle of Success (Yakima) was granted $4000 for sponsorship of 67 students in the Ready Home! Ready Child! book-a-month club. 

Catholic Family Services (Wenatchee) received $5000 to fund their Monitor Migrant Camp early education program. 

Cascade School District (Peshastin) was selected to receive $3160 to purchase kits and supplies for parents of three- and four-year-old students preparing for kindergarten. 

Dual Language Learning

Lewis and Clark Elementary (Wenatchee) received $5643 to use for the school’s six week after school intervention program and for its 12 week ESL and SSL adult language immersion program. 

Moxee Elementary was awarded $2300 to purchase library and classroom supplies in Spanish for its dual language student body.

At-Risk Youth

Central Washington University received $3000 for the Breaking Boundaries program in Brewster helping Hispanic male and female teens build self-esteem and learn about life’s opportunities.

 Adult ESL

Lake Chelan School District was selected to receive $2904 for its parent empowerment program. 

Friends of Buena Library received $2470 for an eight week Adult ESL course concentrating on basic conversation and job related communication. 

The Literacy Council of Chelan and Douglas Counties (Wenatchee) received $3000 for supplies, tutor and student trainings and the hiring of an AmeriCorps member.
