The Washington Apple Education Foundation annual raffle and silent auction is held in conjunction with the Washington State Horticultural Association's annual meeting each year in early December.
2010 Results
Dan and Cindy Russell, Wenatchee, were this year's winners of a 2010 400 gallon TTN Powerblast sprayer generously donated by Rears Manufacturing. Dan and Cindy Russell are second-generation growers in the Wenatchee area. They farm approximately 200 acres of apples, pears, cherries, nectarines and apricots.
$25 raffle tickets were sold by the WAEF with the majority of tickets sold during the WSHA Annual Meeting December 6th and 7th. In total, ticket sales generated over $18,000 for Foundation programs. Additionally, the Rears family donated a 750 series 6’ OMF orchard flail to the Foundation’s silent auction held also during the WSHA annual meeting. The flail was purchased by Cragg Gilbert of Gilbert Orchards for $7,000.
