The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) was founded in 1994 by members of Washington’s tree fruit industry with a desire to advance the industry’s charitable work. Today, WAEF fosters educational opportunities, encourages academic excellence and promotes awareness of the values of Washington’s tree fruit industry.
Known best for its scholarship program, WAEF donors make educational dreams come true for kids raised in tree fruit industry communities. Children of growers, farmworkers, warehouse employees and others connected to the state’s apple, cherry and pear crops qualify for these valuable scholarships.
Further, the Foundation invests in academic success for those employed in the industry. Grant funding is made available to community and school organizations providing innovative educational assistance for farmworker families.
Foundation activities are made possible through generous donations made voluntarily by members of the industry. Foundation donors include industry suppliers, growers, warehouses, retailers, professional service providers and others that contribute to production of our world-renown fruit and care about access to education.
Join current and former WAEF scholarship recipients running Bloomsday in Spokane on May 6 and compete to raise money through pledges. The students that raise the most will have a scholarship awarded in their name to a graduating student from their high school alma mater. Read More...

Creation of a scholarship to assist young people raised in tree fruit districts is an important decision. Not only is the event life-changing to the recipients, but a scholarship fund also can demonstrate your company's commitment to the future, honor the memory of a loved one or industry member, or provide your family an avenue to recognize its long history with the tree fruit industry.
